CourtSide is the transparency platform I wished existed when I was signing contracts across Europe.
“CourtSide exists to give basketball players the information they deserve before signing.”
As a former player, I signed contracts blind. No one talked about payment reliability, coaching quality, or living conditions. CourtSide changes that.
— Kevin Bright, Founder
My name is Kevin Bright. I was born in Mannheim, Germany, and I've been playing basketball my entire life.
At 14, I moved to the Urspringschule basketball academy — one of Germany's best development programs. We won three NBBL youth championships, and I was named Rookie of the Year. I represented Germany at the U18 European Championship and the Albert-Schweitzer-Tournament in my hometown.
After the ProB championship with Team Ehingen and a season in the ProA, I got a scholarship to Vanderbilt University in the United States — playing in the SEC, one of the top conferences in college basketball. I came back after one year for family reasons and signed with the Fraport Skyliners in the BBL, Germany's top league. I played alongside future national team players and under coaches like Gordon Herbert, who later coached Germany to the 2023 World Championship.
Injuries slowed me down. A stress fracture cost me most of my second BBL season. I moved to Nürnberg in the ProA, represented Germany at the 2015 Summer Universiade (we won Silver), and eventually stepped away from professional basketball.
After hanging up my jersey, I completed a Master's degree in Computer Science. That's when everything clicked: I realized the power of data — how the right information, structured and accessible, can change decisions fundamentally. The basketball world still runs on gut feelings, word of mouth, and opaque backroom deals. I knew I had the rare combination to change that: a decade of firsthand experience on the court and the technical foundation to actually build the platform that makes transparency possible. CourtSide is where those two worlds meet — deep basketball knowledge and real engineering.
Throughout my career, I signed contracts without knowing what other players earned. I chose clubs based on word of mouth, not data. I had agents who promised things they couldn't deliver. I wish I had a tool like CourtSide. So I built it.
European basketball has a massive transparency problem. Players sign contracts blind — no salary benchmarks, no honest club reviews, no reliable agent ratings. Meanwhile, 180+ cases go to FIBA's arbitration tribunal every year over payment disputes alone.
CourtSide changes that. Anonymous salary data. Honest scouting reports. Real agent ratings. Built by a player who's been through it — for every player who's about to.
Your identity is never shared — not with clubs, not with agents, not with other players. I built this platform with player safety as the foundation.
