How to write helpful, honest scouting reports

What Makes a Great Review

  • Be specific — mention concrete examples ("gym had 2 squat racks for 15 players")
  • Be balanced — every club has strengths and weaknesses, mention both
  • Be factual — describe what happened, not what you assume
  • Rate each category independently — great coaching doesn't mean great facilities
  • Include context — mention your role, season, and how long you stayed
  • Write the review you wish you had before signing

What's Not Allowed

  • Naming specific players, coaches, or staff by full name
  • Defamatory statements — opinions are fine, lies are not
  • Discriminatory language (race, gender, nationality, religion)
  • Threats or intimidation of any kind
  • Fake reviews for clubs you haven't actually played for
  • Promotional content or spam
  • Sharing another player's salary without their consent

Anonymity Rules

All reviews on CourtSide are anonymous by default. Clubs can see aggregated ratings and review text, but never which player wrote a specific review.

We display the reviewer's position group (Guard / Wing / Big), experience level, and season — but never their name, nationality, or any identifying details.

To protect anonymity, do not include details in your review text that could easily identify you (e.g., “as the starting point guard from the US who arrived in January”).

Flagging & Moderation

Anyone can flag a review they believe violates these guidelines. Our moderation process works as follows:

  1. A flagged review is placed under review (still visible but marked)
  2. Our moderation team assesses the report within 48 hours
  3. If the review violates guidelines, it is removed and the author is notified
  4. If the flag is unfounded, the review is restored to normal status

Clubs with Premium accounts may respond publicly to reviews, but cannot remove or edit player reviews.

Consequences of Violations

2ndTemporary suspension from submitting reviews (30 days)
3rdPermanent account ban — all reviews by the user are removed
